Where can I buy an actual Acai berry?

Question by Unknown: Where can I buy an actual Acai berry?
Im not talking about the suppliment, because I know they don't work. I just want to eat an acai berry because they taste good. I tried Acai flavored smoothies at some smoothie place and thought they were delicious and want to eat some acai berries at home. Where can I buy the actual fruit? Do they sell it whole foods?

  1. Acai berry, in case you don't know (which it seems you don't) is 90% seed and only 10% pulp. It also lasts a very short time after it is picked from the palm, a few hours or so, after that it loses most of its antioxidating power (still a delicious and fairly nutritious berry though, well, 90% seeds aside lol)

Your best bet to get as close to an actual acai berry as you can would be to look for frozen acai berry pulp. Not sure how much it costs, or where to buy it, but a google search should help with that. Other than that you could go for the smoothies or some such product or perhaps fro a pure acai berry juice.

I don't think you can buy the berry itself anywhere. Maybe if you live in brazil near where it's gathered, but even then it's unlikely.
